Charles Messina



is an American playwright, screenwriter and director.

Known for his deconstructive take on biographical subjects, Messina's most notable stage work as director includes the critically acclaimed Off-Broadway plays Cirque Jacqueline, about the life of Jackie Kennedy Onassis, and Mercury: The Afterlife and Times of a Rock God, a monodrama written by Messina about Queen's frontman Freddie Mercury, which starred Khalid Gonçalves and later, Amir Darvish. A film version of Mercury: The Afterlife and Times of a Rock God is currently in development.

Charles Messina's new play An Honest Woman will be read on Thursday June 27th, 2013 at 2pm at Stage 72 in NYC. The play tells the story of a wife and mother's struggle for independence when her husband is incarcerated. The play will star Gina Ferranti, Maria DiDomenico, Steven LaChioma, Annabelle Attanasio and Jason Cerbone.

is proud to present The Tenement Plays, An evening of one acts by playwright Charles Messina.  Two of the plays are award winning one acts, 'Merging' and 'Fugazy', and the third is the world premiere of the author's newest work, 'Sick Bastids'.
